The Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue has reached seven and a half years old, and we continue to work tirelessly to make a difference to the lives of many kerries and their owners.  Like all the rescues we talk to we are very overworked and have been for at least a year and a half.


On behalf of all the dogs who pass through us we want to say thank you to every person who has supported the Rescue and enabled us to help all the dogs.  You’re all amazing.

Thank you all for being part of this amazing adventure but more importantly for promoting our dearly loved breed and our Rescues presence in the wider world.

Here at the Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue we have collaborated with our families, fans and supporters to bring you some gorgeous Kerry Blue gifts this Christmas.

Whether you want new tree decorations, a cosy branded hoodie, or a gorgeous new calendar to ring in the new year, our Christmas store is just the place.

The work of the rescue is strengthened by the love and support of our friends - you. Without your donations and kindness we couldn't do the work we do. 

Last year we rehomed 19 dogs, have 2 in foster homes, and gave advice and guidance to a further 9 homes, who to date continue to work with their dogs in the knowledge that we will always be there for them, however their adventure unfolds.

This edition is full of stories, information and updates from not only the KBTR, but also our valued supporters. We discuss our visit to Crufts this year, which was wonderfully enlightening and we cannot wait to return next year.

It’s been nearly a year since we welcomed Gemma and Peter into the KBTR fold, and through geographic and government restriction challenges, none of us had met face to face.

Crufts 2022 we made it happen.

Our volunteers come from across the UK and we each had our own mammoth journeys to get to the venue.

The sun was not quite shining but it was definitely up there somewhere behind the clouds. It seemed to signal a day of hope and wonder as we each made our way to hall 1. Peter arrived and quickly bumped into long time KBTR supporter Suzi, and we were soon met by Emma, Gayle and Gemma from the rescue.

Many hugs, great sighs of relief and smiles were shared and we started making our way to the Kerry Blue lineup. Grooming tables, proud owners, scissors and brushes greeted us.

Some magical moments were experienced and savoured here, proudly introducing ourselves to the exhibitors and stealing a few Kerry cuddles and kisses, before wishing them all well and the best of luck in the competition.

After this (and a quick grab of a coffee) we made our way up into the adjacent hall towards the Discover Dogs area. The Kerry Blue Terrier breed was being well represented here. Some beautiful dogs on show, meeting and greeting passers by.

Some of the staunchest supporters of the rescue were here representing the breed, and even one of our rescue success stories too.

Then came a surprise.

Mark, our founder was initially not going to be able to make it to join us, but it was a joy to turn around and see him at the event. The whole KBTR gang, together at last.

Lasting thoughts from the event was the organisation and politeness from all the attendees, the staff and the obedience of the dogs.

We met many people who were curious about our organisation and we hope many will check us out and support our work.

Having a chance to represent the KBTR as a group was a great privilege and one we are all eager to repeat.

We have done a new video interview, and this one (in two parts!) is a treat!

In this, we meet with Suzie, Steve and their pup Roxy, to share tales, tips and advice - plus a bunch of hilarious stories to boot.
