The 30th September 2017 saw the end of the Kerry Blue Terrier Rescues first financial period. Right from the outset we felt that it is important to be transparent on how the Rescue is operated and funded and so it gives us great pleasure to share with you our first annual reports. If anyone has any questions or queries regarding the reports then please contact one of rescue team members below. Joe Moriarty is going to be running the "Perkins The Great Eastern Run" on Sunday 8th October.
He is running this half Marathon on behalf of The Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue, to raise funds for this wonderful breed who come into rescue. The Rescue is very close to his heart because of the fondness he has for this amazing breed thanks to the Kerry's we have owned over the years. Joe has only been running and training for this half marathon for less than 4 months and what started off as a joke between him and his friends soon became a serious thought for Joe. So please donate something, doesn't matter how much, to The Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue and support Joe on this great event. Thanks all. Inspired by Christine Forrest's husband Tommy, Andrew Rattray is going to do a similar thing to raise money for the Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue.
Andrew is going to be 60 on September 29th, and to mark the occasion he's decided to climb Scafell Pike in the Lake District........and he's going to take Eve Somers's Kerry Blue Jimi, who is 7 and a half, with him.
Scarfell Pike (England's highest mountain) is 3,209 ft above sea level and so the hours Andrew and Jimi spend hill climbing on Dartmoor will hopefully pay off. Jimi is now classified as a veteran, so the two of them hope to get to the top and back down safely and raise as much money as possible for the Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue. They will be travelling up to Cumbria from Cornwall on Andrew's Birthday, and he plans to climb Scafell Pike with Jimi on Sunday October 1st 2017. We will keep you updated with all the plans and preparations as they happen. Please donate something to the Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue, and show your support for their wonderful efforts on behalf of all Kerry Blues in need. XXX ![]() Well it's fair to say that when the rescue started out we believed that we would possibly rehome approx. 10 kerrys a year in the UK given how they are such a vulnerable breed.....sadly we were wrong. Since May 2016 we have rehomed 30 Kerrys (August 2017) and have 5 more currently looking for their loving foster/forever homes. The Kerry Blue Terrier is an amazing and rare breed of dog who once owned have massively loyal supporters. They are a brilliant family dog and love (and need) lots of stimulation and exercise and some can be feisty with other dogs but will always show you an amazing amount of love, companionship and loyalty. Once you've owned a kerry, their spirit never leaves you. We are currently looking for loving homes for this amazing breed. If you are interested in finding out more then please contact the rescue on kerrybluerescue@gmail.co.uk Are you able to offer your home and heart in the UK to help and offer a Kerry blue Terrier a new chance in life?
Fostering a dog can be an incredibly rewarding experience; knowing you are helping a dog prepare for their loving forever homes. When fostering you have the full support of the rescue and all costs are covered. All we ask is that you are able to commit to 6 weeks looking after a Kerry and work with us to help determine what sort of home is the ideal environment for the dog to spend the rest of their lives. We currently have 3 dogs in need of foster homes and their love is waiting. If you have a home waiting or would like to know more then please email the rescue on kerrybluerescue@gmail.com Many thanks Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue. We can't believe just how quickly the last year has gone and what a year it's been and we can't thank each and every one of our supporters and volunteers enough as without you none of this just wouldn't be possible.
We had always intended to do a website but it took a little while longer than anticipated but how important it's turned out to be. It's fair to say that we wouldn't have the interest, support, following or help without the website and social media. The last 12 months since we launched the website (5th June 2016) we have seen the Rescue move at a staggering pace and continually evolve. The Facebook page has seen it's followers more than double to nearly 500, the instagram page now has over 200 followers and we've received over 30,000 hits on the website with over 60,000 page views. We are really proud of how far the Rescue has come and how much of a difference it's made to the lives of Kerrys (and their families) in need of help and support. Whilst we'd had some successful rehomings prior to the website going live it was only once we had launched the site that the interest in the rescue really took off. Sadly as a result so did the amount of Kerrys that needed rehoming, however at least with the rescue we can ensure that they are rehomed appropriately with love, understanding and care. To find out more about the last 12 months and the Kerrys we've helped then please read on....... Our Rehoming Process We take our role in rehoming any Kerry who comes through the Rescue with the upmost respect, care and seriousness. We aim to match all of the Kerrys to be rehomed to the lifestyles and circumstances of any potential new families and pride ourselves on finding the right loving forever home for each and every dog. Our main priority is that the dog is the perfect match for any potential family to minimise the need to a dog to have to make any unnecessary adjustments.
We get a lot of interest via social media for our dogs but then sometimes we struggle to get further information from that party. We also respect that giving a Kerry up for rehoming is sometimes a heartbreaking decision for their families and so we will require any potential new family be subject to numerous checks.
We hope you understand the need for the above to ensure that any of the Kerrys who come through this Rescue have the very best chance as it will always be about the Kerry. Please click on "Read more" (to the right) for the Kerrys the Rescue is currently rehoming. ![]() The UK based Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue is delighted to announce that as of Wednesday 22nd March 2017 the Kennel Club have added us to their list of recommended breed specific rescues. This is an incredible achievement for us in what is a relatively short space of time and is true testimony to the professionalism and dedication of everyone involved with the Rescue. We are so proud that we've been recognised by the Kennel Club for the work that we're doing in helping re-home and rescue Kerry Blues and find them their loving forever homes. The Kennel Club listing was always part of our future goals and we are delighted to have achieved it. This will really help us reach out to more people who are interested in this adorable breed. This has come back on the recent announcements that both the Kerry Blue Terrier Club of England and Kerry Blue Terrier Association have also endorsed our Rescue. The Kennel Club listing wouldn't have happened had the two clubs not acknowledged the work we are doing and offered their overwhelming support and backing. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank both clubs and their committee's for the overwhelming support that they have shown us. We would also like to also thank each and everyone of our supporters who have offered their help, time, support, advice or guidance since we started. You have all helped shape the Rescue and we wouldn't be where we are today without you. www.thekennelclub.org.uk/services/public/findarescue/display.aspx?breed=3071&id=2670 Thank you all again and best wishes from all of the team at Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue. |
